Nardo's new digs...
Nardo just got a new condo... and you know what - it was FREE! Geez, does this cat know how to shop or what? Some of you may have heard me talk about Houston Freecycle before - and this is a perfect example of the value of this great group.
From the site: Freecyleâ„¢ is a grassroots environmental movement whose goal is to recycle and reduce waste and landfill space by connecting people who are throwing away unwanted items with others who are seeking the same items (and have a little fun in the process).
I was on the site posting about some valuables that I wanted to get rid of and remembered that I have been wanting a scratching post thingy for Nardo. I priced them at the pet stores and they were outrageous. I had pretty much consigned myself to building one when the idea to ask on Houston Freecycle dawned on me.
I posted a WANTED: message on the group and within minutes a great freecycler emailed me back that she had one her cats never used. And to top it all off - she was just a couple minutes away from me. I ran over, picked up the condo and Nardo loves it! He wasted no time in heading over to investigate and once he discovered the dangling mouse, he was hooked. He played for about 20 minutes and is now sleeping draped over the top ledge.
If you have something of value that you no longer want taking up space or maybe need something that someone else likely has sitting around their garage - Houston Freecycle is a great resource.
Not from Houston? Don't fear - freecycle is all over...
Check out Freecycle.org to find the one in your location. The have over 3,000 freecycling communities with over 1.5 million members!
Reduce, Reuse, FREEcycle!!!
