Ginger is upset. She said she wanted to sign the IAMS petition also!!!!

She emailed me and said she couldn't sign unless she had a parent or guardian's signature.

She said that IAMS would not take Pirate Signatures.

Thanks for taking the time to post. I have read the research from the ASPCA site and it mentions nothing about the Iams Company halting animal testing... instead it says it is moving toward "rapid reduction" in animal testing. It does however sound like the company is making great strides in creating a non-animal-cruel business.

The Iamstruth.com website on the other hand was not up. I will certainly check back later to see if it works.

And fear not, if my research finds anything more than the promise to do better, I will report on that as well.

I pride myself on my drive to always look at both sides of any issue and this is no different... especially as this issue is so important to me and my four-legged friends.

Upon further research, the iamstruth.com site is up now, I am convinced that IAMS has been moved to correct some cruel practices. IAMS admits that prior to a change in policy in 1999 that euthanasia was the standard procedure at the end of a study... and claims that documents referring to the same after that date were typos.

The fact remains that a promise to move away from testing on animals is not the same as no longer testing. Until IAMS can come out with a corroborated statement that is DOES NOT do any animal testing in laboratories, I will have to stand by my decision to no longer purchase IAMS products.

This is a shame, because I was a big fan of the company. I just cannot justify the suffering of dogs as a proper means to get better quality food in the end.

Stop ALL laboratory testing on animals. The move away from testing facilities and universities is a great step.... I applaud that. I do however distrust that some "testing" still occurs in IAMS owned and operated facilities. They may be great environments but I personally have no way to verify this... and as such, remain skeptical. If this facility is open to the public for unannounced visits and full inspection, then it is probably a good facility.

As a former supporter of these cruel laboratory testing facilities and practices, the burden of proof remains with IAMS. Get that to me and I will shout it from the rooftops and publicly go after PETA if they do not correct their propaganda.
