Web 2.0 Dodo birds
I got a notice from Frappr that I had a new comment this morning and had to struggle for a few minutes to remember what the heck Frappr was. Was it that one that tracked your travels? No, that was Groovr. Was it the one that tracked your friend's travels? No, that was Dopplr. I knew it wasn't the one that handled your photos - I use flickr way to much to forget that. After clicking on the link, it all came back to me. It was the one that tracked where all your friends are from.
It was then I realized that I was looking at my first Web 2.0 extinction. Sure, some people still use it, but for me Frappr had become extinct somewhere around last June. In the world of Web 2.0 social directories, it went the way of the Dodo bird.
Which Web 2.0 flashes-in-the-pan are you done with now? Which bright eyed uber-cool startup has lost it's lustre?
